Program Requirements

Instrumentos de la Libertad wants to share the gift of music without placing funding burdens directly on parents and caregivers. Having said this, we do ask for parent/guardian involvement. Adult participation ensures the success of your student musician. So here are the requirements:

  • We only allow 2 unexcused absences.
  • Being late is not an option. Unless it is out of your control!
  • We ask to compare your child’s grades from the beginning of their involvement with Instrumentos to when they leave the program. These will be held in complete confidentiality and only used as anonymous data in tracking the effect music and our program have on your student musician.
  • We ask the student musician puts in 20-30 minutes of practice at least 6 days a week. We will provide ways to make this fun at lessons and rehearsals.
  • We ask the student musicians to play at events and concerts showcasing their talent. At least 3 a year.
  • We ask that parents remain for any private lessons. We want you to know what we are doing so you can help with “motivation” at home!
  • We will also ask parents to participate in a helping occasionally with concerts and other events. This may mean bringing food or helping with set up and tear down.

And if there is ever a question, call or e-mail us as soon as possible. This program is designed to create a family of musicians and their supporters by mixing parents, student musicians, teachers, professional musicians, community organizations, and community leaders with the goal of giving the gift of music to kids and to a community that needs it. We welcome your involvement, your help, and your student musician to the Instrumentos family!
